Needless to say, this is the song that pushed Zeppelin over the top! In other words,this is the bands biggest song of their career. Since the outbreak of digital downloads, this record could be surpassed! Let’s face it. I doubt it will happen. Especially since this song has some of the most memorable guitar licks of all time! I guess we’ll have to wait and see! I think the band really out did themselves with this song! The bass playing is perfect. John Paul Jones is laying it down deep in the pocket, along with John Bonham. They are widely considered to be one of the most successful, innovative and influential rock groups in the history of music. With Jimmy Page playing guitar,Robert Plant singing and John Paul Jones laying it down deep in the pocket, along with John Bonham. It’s no wonder these guy’s are considered the best Rock Band Of All Time PERIOD!

2. “Stairway To Heaven”

You either love it or hate it! Some people love it while others it makes their skin crawl! This song is up there with some of the best songs ever written. The words are awesome, referencing to the greedy people while still trying to maintain a positive outlook! Also, I Love the Guitar solo; it’s so melodic. For me this guitar solo really accentuates the very soul of the melody, which I believe helped sell millions of Led Zeppelins albums! I’m not saying this to discredit the awesome bass guitar expertise and the awesome drumming! I ultimately feel strongly that the guitar solo along with the vocal lines really did it for me with this song.

3. “Ten Years Gone”

This song is one of my personal favorites, mainly because it’s unlike most Zeppelin songs. It’s really soulful! I can feel every note and lyric. The guitar intro is just beautiful along with the vocals and lyrics This is not! to say there other songs don’t have soul! I’m just saying this song,I think, has the most soul out of all of their hits.

Indeed, this was one of the books I read over the weekend, and I must say I was quite impressed. So much so that I wanted to write up this quick little book review to tell you about it. The name of the book is;

“Bioviolence - Preventing Biological Terror and Crime” by Barry Kellman, Cambridge University Press, New York, NY, 2006, 362 pages, ISBN: 978-0-521-88325-2.

This is a great research reference book to have for anyone studying bioterrorism. I own it because our Think Tank often talks on this subject, luckily I picked it up inexpensively at a used book sale. I noted on the front page this book I own was once given to someone as a gift and inside the front cover it read: “To Paul, With all my best wishes. Peace, Barry Kellman.” I thought to myself, how interesting that someone would sign a book “with all my best wishes, and peace” when it had to do with such a serious topic a bio-terrorism.

However, after reading the book, I understand why the author signed the book that way, as within these pages are excellent suggestions of how to stop bioviolence and terrorism in the future. Some of these suggestions I might add have also appeared in bio-defense protocols in industry, government, military, and with NGOs. In fact, the same advice was recently quoted in a GAO report I read.

I’d also like you to consider not only this book, but some of the books by Richard Preston - you can find him also on Amazon or at any major bookseller. I think you should read a couple of his books in conjunction with this one. In fact, while I have you hear, let me also recommend;

“Biological warfare, bioterrorism, biodefence and the biological and toxin weapons convention,” by Edgar J. DaSilva. I believe you can find that paper online in a “.PDF format” on Google. Lastly, I recommend you also read; ” The Great Influenza: The Epic Story of the Deadliest Plague In History” by John Barry. Once you read all this, then you will realize why I worry about such things. Be well my friends, and realize there are some very smart folks looking out for you and your family when it comes to bioterrorism.

I remember years ago when money was scarce, we had only just returned from abroad and had only enough to have a wonderful home cooked meal this Christmas. We had little furniture in the house we were renting and not enough money to buy presents, yet it was my favorite Christmas ever. It felt as if I had gone back to a time when there was little materialism then, and the holiday meant a time for gratitude, prayer, reflection and celebration of family values and life. My wife planned a lovely meal, and even though we had only enough money for the food, we were more excited at the prospect of being together and having a lovely meal together whilst watching Christmas TV. On Christmas-day, we walked along the river whilst the turkey was cooking in the oven. We were happy and never a thought of lack passed through our minds, and we were especially grateful of having each other. We realized how fortunate we were as so many were lonely and had no one to turn to. Yes it was the greatest Christmas we spent and being together at the time was more important. We never had gifts, yet this was more a strength than a weakness and we did not see this as a lack of anything.

Let’s come back to reality for a moment and make a few observations that I experienced over the last few days. I have noticed increasingly, the desperation in people as they struggle and panic to survive the Christmas period, making sure they get everything that their loved ones desire. I noticed that it was all about what someone was getting or what they wanted while they maneuvered around a tramp who had his hands out looking for alms. “Just enough for a cup of tea” he said and the two women held their noses high - pretending he did not exist. Another person intimated they would be getting the new iPad and a new 3D Tv; they were all asleep and I was saddened at how material the world had become.

Everyone is frantically buying for someone and sometimes even for people they do not really see or even like. I often wonder if many people really know what Christmas is about. When did we become so material? In the greed that exists within this period, we often cause more suffering than is necessary. We gorge ourselves into destruction and are often jealous of other people and what they have or why they should have it.

Everything in life is a simple choice and you can choose to be happy, to be forgiving or to be angry, it really is up to you how you live your life. There are many who are obsessed with being the best and winning at all costs, but the reality is that winning only creates suffering. No one needs to suffer and again, we can make the choice of helping others through their suffering. One point that I must make is that just because it is Christmas, you should not do something good for someone out of guilt or give alms because it makes you look good. Give silently and with a prayerful thought. Help someone without making too much out of It and the next time that you are desperate for that new gadget, think of how much you really need it if you have everything else around you, don’t give to get, give to love and show love.

Christmas is also a time of forgiveness and this could be the greatest gift that you could give this year. Is there someone either in your family or in your circle that you have had issue with. Ask yourself If the issues you have are from a lack of understanding or ignorance. It is not easy to forgive and forget, and before you can truly forgive anyone else, you must learn to forgive yourself and truly love yourself because you are a child of God like everyone else, and god has no favorites. What is the point of harboring anger for something that can’t change immediately. Think about how much wasted time you put into being angry. Is there not an easier way to use that time in learning to understand and forgive. Think about this, if you could learn to forgive someone who in your eyes has committed that gravest of injustice against you, then you are treading the path of Christ. You can then truly understand the real power behind the Christmas period. It’s not about gifts, it’s about love and forgiveness.

Establish Eye Contact - Making eye to eye contact with your audience is the best way to deliver sincere and convincing oral discourse. It allows your audience to keep their attention on you and concentrate on what you have to say.

Choose the Right Food at the Right Time - Eat at least 3 hours before your actual speech. Food taken long enough before you do your talk perks your body up and provides you with the necessary energy to carry on the task of speaking.

The key is to face your fear, master your material, and rehearse.

Here are some helpful tips on how you can use rehearsing to eliminate the fear of speaking in public:

1. Know your material.

Prepare an outline of your speech and look for bits of information which could be a major point of interest.

Read about every aspect of the topic so that it will not be difficult for you to answer unexpected questions should they come up through the course of your discussion.

2. Have a “dress rehearsal” before the big day.

If you are making a formal presentation in a particular place, go to the venue a day ahead or several hours before the presentation to familiarize yourself with the surroundings.

If there is a rostrum, stand in front of it and test the height. Make the necessary adjustments so that the audience will have a clear view of you as a speaker.

This is also a good time to check out the equipment that you need to proceed with your presentation.

Create charts and photos for a slide presentation to make your presentation more informative and interesting.

Time is also important so you can have a run-through of the entire speech and record your voice while doing so. This would give you anidea of how long it will run. The recording will also reveal the focal points where you can vary your tone of voice for a more lively speech.

It is also a great idea to tape yourself or have somebody do it for you while you are rehearsing your actual speech.

Review the video and look for ways to improve your overall presentation.

Practice makes perfect, so it is very important to rehearse before giving out that all-important oral presentation and help you reduce your public speaking anxiety.
